little bit of not much

Just a few pictured and videos from the last few days...

Waiting on daddy to get home from work...

I won't tell you which one's face got dirty first...

Mow, forest, mow!

Cameron's new truck

First bath in the big tub. We usually just shower with her, but since she loves the water so much, we're going to start letting her play in it during bath time.

One handing it!! We're so close!!

I think daddy had more fun playing in the water than D'Laney

11 months

Today my little Laney-bug is 11 months old. While it seems she's always been in our lives, they have really flown by. She is now talking, sort of. She has about 5 or 6 words in her vocabulary, but her favorite word by far is Daddy. And she's learning how to control the pitch of her voice, so she goes around all day saying daddy high, then low, then in between, then half and half.
She took two little steps a couple days ago, though I'm not calling it her first steps just yet. D'Laney has been standing by herself for a couple weeks now, and saturday she lifted her right foot then put it back down in the exact same spot, then did the same with her left. So she didn't actually go anywhere, but she did keep her balance during the whole ordeal without holding on to anything. Poor Cameron was pretty upset that he missed it, but I happened to have been on the phone with him when she did it, and that's better than a lot of dad's get.
We're still way behind on foods, but I'm not too worried about it. She's still nursing several times during the day so she's getting all the nutrition she needs. Marlayna thinks that because D'Laney is putting so much effort into talking and walking, she doesn't have anything left for eating, and I think she's right. Even though she's small (most children weigh around 21-25 pounds on their first birthday, we're tipping the scales at around 17 pounds right now,) she's healthy as a horse, has hardly ever been sick, and I know that nursing has a lot to do with that.
I'm getting everything together for her birthday party, made some way cute invitations (yay scrapblog!) and it's gonna be a lot of fun!

Atta, girl!

My aunt sent me this video and I had to share it. I love it when a girl shows up a guy, or a whole team of guys! Look at the left fielder, he's like, what just happened?!

sunday six-pack

  • D'Laney and I stopped at my grandparents' house on the way back from angelo on monday and a 30 minute stop turned into almost 3 hours, but I should have known it would. I love the fact that all 4 of my grandparents are still alive, in fact, they're just barely 70, so they'll have many years with my kids. I knew 6 of my 8 great-grandparents, losing my last great-grandmother in november of 2006 at the age of 96, and I know how rare that is. D'Laney and whoever follows her will be so blessed to know these wonderful people.
  • When we were leaving, I noticed in their always present garage sale pile a little side table that looked really familiar, but not from their house. Granddaddy told me that it was from his mother's house, that he had made it in high school and Grandmother Cauley had it in her living room until she died 7 years ago. They were going to sell it, but I loaded it up in my car. When I got home and turned it over, my granddad had signed it around 1956 when he made it, and so had his dad, who I never met. But there it was..."Pop Cauley." It's so simple and kind of silly, but little things like that mean a lot to me. I have no idea where we're going to put the thing, but I know that we now have room for it:)
  • We finally got rid if Cameron's big welding truck. Because of the price of diesel right now, he hasn't even been driving it. We've been borrowing an extra pick up that his parents have. He took it to the dodge house in odessa and traded it in, sans the bed, for a brand new half-ton dodge ram. Not our first choice for trucks, but much much better than that monster we had. He has a guy that's supposed to buy his custom welding bed, hopefully soon. Our original plan was not to get a new truck for him at all, just have him drive that one of is parents until he gets a company truck, but we're not sure when that'll be. So now we have to decide if we want to just keep this truck or try to sell it out right. We'll have much better luck selling this smaller gas truck that a big diesel. Any one interested?
  • We're finally getting dish TV! I'm so excited I can't see straight. I had no idea how much tv I watched until I didn't have it. And I really don't watch that much, but like right now, D'Laney is asleep, dishes are washed, things are picked up, all I need to do is fold a few loads of laundry. A little TLC or HGTV would be really nice! Especially with our new TV, but we really wanted to save money and not get anything right now. Not until football season, cause honestly, a house of mine without football? Yeah right! So I called DirectTV yesterday just to check out their packages, get an idea of how much it costs so I can budget and get ready for next month, and they were running an awesome promotion that is up on the 16th of this month. I'm not a sucker that falls for promotions, there's always a hidden catch, so I asked a ton of questions and really grilled the poor guy. But I was very satisfied with what he told me, so I said sign me up! The technician will be here tuesday! We're getting 2 receivers, one for the living room and one for our bedroom, DVRs, the works! I cannot wait!
  • I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow. I'm ashamed to say it's been over 6 months since I've had one. I'm trying to decide if I want something drastically different. It's gotten really long, to my bra line, and I've never had it that long before. My husband loves it, but I don't think it looks very good. It's thick, but not thick enough to lay pretty. It's just kinda hangs there. I know that I definitely want to leave the length, but I'm debating...layers, bangs, curls? (Can you tell I'm really stretching it to get 6 things this week?;)
  • Finally, Cameron is off tomorrow and tuesday, which means in a way, I'm off tomorrow and tuesday. He's got quite a bit to do, but he can and will want to take D'Laney for most of it, which means momma's on her own! Maybe I'll get the toilets scrubbed or maybe I'll get my toes done, who knows?

4th of July weekend

We spent the weekend of the 4th in Angelo. D'Laney and I drove down friday afternoon and ate supper with my parents and my brother and his fiance. We have our big Cauley family reunion every year on this weekend, so we got to spend saturday with a lot of extended family. D'Laney got to meet some of her cousins she hadn't seen yet, and the newest little Cauley, 3 week old Tucker, was there. Cadye took D'Laney swimming for a little bit, but she wasn't up for it for long. Cameron got off pretty early and drove in saturday night. He got to visit with everyone for about an hour before everything was over. Sunday we just hung out with my folks and went out to Maverick that evening. My parents house is getting close to being done. I think they're going to try to move out there in the next few weeks, even though there's still a lot of work to do. We grilled hot dogs and everyone but me and D'Laney went down to the tank and shot for a little while. Pretty soon we'll actually get to eat inside when we're out there. Here's a few pictures from the weekend.

Heaven help us all!

My sweet, angelic D'Laney...my beautiful little girl who gets so excited when I come get her from her crib, raises her arms to me, smiles that radiant smile and says Momma!! After getting her from her nap this afternoon, I sat down on the floor with her to change her diaper. D'Laney must have thought we were going to play, cause she gave me a delightful little squeal, and as I laid her down and unsnapped her clothes, before you could say mood swing, those little eyebrows furrowed and she pushed my hands away and said one simple, clear-as-a-bell word...NO! And so it begins....

Videos

I had no idea you could upload videos on here. Computer illiterate doesn't even begin to describe how I am with things like this. Here's couple videos of D'Laney from the last few days:
We love music in this house. I have very little talent for it, but Cameron makes up for it. He plays the guitar and dabbles with the mandolin, and has a better voice than most guys on the radio right now. D'Laney seems to have picked at least some of that up. She already has pretty good rhythm and will "dance" whenever she hears music, whether it's from a cd, on tv, or her daddy playing for her. Of course, by the time I get the camera out, she's through. But she starts by shaking her head, then she'll get her legs and booty going, then slaps at whatever is closest, usually Cameron;)

She learned "touchdown" a while back, but we've had a hard time getting it on tape. I finally got it though!

And finally, D'Laney and her daddy riding for the first time.
